You don't mention whether you are using a USB or flash drive for the extra memory the BD-Live function requires. Although the player's internal memory might be wiped, it isn't enough to technically meet BD-live requirements, and the message you are getting is probably indicative of that.
As for why you are getting different BD Live failure messages based on the disk you play: part of the problem may be related to insufficient memory, as mentioned previously, causing the BD-Live software/firmware to pop up the wrong status message, and it might also be related to the BD Live servers for those titles just not being available. If you can, try those titles on another true Region B player that has successfully used BD Live previously, and see if they work. You also might have problems if the title links to Euro-based sites but detects the player as a US-based design, and decides to reject the connection. Who knows how well the confluence of BD-Live, BD Java, Internet connections, lack of memory, and out-of-region players will work together - there are a lot of opportunities for bugs there.
Which is why I'll avoid BD Live for a few years at least. I don't miss it.
I have no idea why you are going into the update mode when you are trying to navigate into the BD Flash Clear - might be a bug in the latest FW: someone forgot to re-index the menu selections or update the GUI, and what you see on-screen doesn't match what the SW thinks you are doing.

I've noticed something a bit strange with my player. I'm in the UK and have my BH200 set to play Region B BD discs (set via the EEPROM hidden menu).
I'm trying the access the BD Live function on the 2-disc special edition of Casino Royale (imported from France), but I get a message saying something about there not being enough space on the player and that I need to delete some files - even though I know the player's drive is empty.
But that's not the only issue I've noticed. I go into the Home menu, select "Others" and then "Initalize" I get a list of "Factory Set", "BD Flash Clear" & "HD-DVD Flash Clear". Hoping selecting "BD Flash Clear" will empty the player allowing me to access the BD Live on Casino Royale, I press the right arrow key - but then it goes to the update menu and starts searching for a new update. Thankfully, I get a message telling me that the current set is the latest version, but I find two things strange with this.
First, I thought the update menu could only be access my setting the player to play Region A BD discs and then selecting "Network Update" (I know this because when the player is set to play Region B BD discs, the "Network Update" option isn't there). Secondly, why is it that when I press the right arrow button to select either one of the three options (Factory Set, BD Flash Clear and HD-DVD Flash Clear), it doesn't select that, but tries to do an update?
Finally, when trying to access the BD Live function on the French Region B version of Casino Royale (2-disc) I get a message saying there isn't enough space on the drive (which I know there is), but when I try to access the BD Live on the UK Region B version of Rambo, I get a message saying "please confirm your player is connected to the internet".
Any thoughts?
