Hi I would like to connect my front speakrs with bi-amping (i have a 5.1 setup and the rec is 7.1 so use the surr back for bi-amp) and i cant figure it out how correctly do this because everywhere i searched i have found that the common front speakers have the connection "Woofer (Low)" the low (bottom connection) and "Tweeter (High)" is conneted in the upper connection! But in my rec manual it shows the connection at the speakers upside down??wtf? in

So please how to connect it right should i trust the onkyos manual? because i cant find anywhere out how it is on the onkyo speaker if Woofer is the upper and Tweeter the bottom conection. Im now really confused because of the onkyos manual

The manual says and illustrates-

For bi-amping, the FRONT L/R terminal posts connect

to the front speakers’ tweeter terminals. And the

SURR BACK L/R terminal posts connect to the front

speakers’ woofer terminals.
Follow the written instructions. The terminal block on the speakers should have labels for woofer/tweeter or high/low, if not check the owner's manual for the speakers. Ignore that part of the illustration (it might be an error or a representation of an Onkyo speaker).


Note: the manual for the 906 has the same wording but the illustration has the tweeter terminals on top.

Be sure to remove the jumper plate (if one is present) before connecting the speakers to the receiver.

Not to confuse things, but it shouldn't matter. That said, I would follow trekguy's advice and do what the manual says to do.


Your picture is appearing too small for me to see anything, btw. It is certainly not showing up for me as 759x556. It's 150x125.

Thx for the reply but in the Jamo 606 speakers manual and on the speaker connection point i cant find if Tweeter is the Top one and Woofer the bottom one. Would really like to know if someone with the same speaker know how it is.


So i think that im gonna try to connect the "Front" to the Top connection on the speaker and "Surr Back" to the bottom one and see what it does.


Do i find somehow out if the connection i false? I mean would there be any noticeable "damage" to the sound if connected upside down?

Not to confuse you further but, provided you have done everything else properly, it shouldn't matter.


The picture is consistent with the manual's written instructions. The only thing odd is that the pictured speakers' upper terminals, and not its lower terminals, are the "woofer terminals". So, per the manual, connect the surround rear amps to your speakers' woofers. If it is not clearly labeled or unclear to you which posts represent the woofers, it can be determined fairly easily, experimentally.

STOP! The Jamo's are not designed to be bi-amped .


These speakers can be bi-wired (a waste of time in my opinion). Bi-amping them will trip the protection circuits in your receiver (best case) or toast the output stage (worst case).


The lack of markings, instructions in the manual or switches or jumpers on the speakers is a big clue.


The terms bi-wire and bi-amp are often confused.

I downloaded a manual and only bi-wiring was shown (assuming I had the right manual).

Yup in the manual there is only shown bi-wiring but in the speaker specification page: http://www.jamo.com/Default.aspx?ID=...roductID=17849 there is stated that it can be used in bi-wiring and(or) bi-amp

I cant understand why they have not included how to corretly bi-amp it i think im gonna write them and email about this

If it has a bi-wireable crossover then it is bi-ampable, too.

If you just look at the picture, it could pass for a picture of bi-amping.

You are so often the source of good and correct advice in this forum that I hesitate (but only a little), to differ.

A number of speakers have been sold over the years with two terminal pairs that are internally connected. The makers claim bi-wire capability, but omit information about the actual cross-over setup. It is harmless puffery (like all bi-wire superiority claims), unless someone tries to bi-amp.


Jamo is a reputable maker, but even so I would want assurance before bi-amping, or I would get a Torx driver and pull the terminal cups.

Wow, that would suck. I would just assume if speakers had two sets of connections out the back with a removeable bridge that they are bi-amp capable. You have some brands that are not?

I wrote to an email to Jamo and the answered me to connect the Front to the upper one and Surr back tu the bottom conectors so oposite than in the onkyo manual!

Ok so I've got an integra dtr 5.9 receiver and hooked up to a jamo 606 system. Ita been working perfectly for about a month. However lately the front left and right speakers buzz and its very annoying. The buzzing only comes from my front left and right speakers and only when my receiver is set to a full surround sound mode. If I'm in stereo mode where sound only comes from the front left and right speakers, there's no buzzing. I find this very strange as the speakers that buzz work fine in stereo... It's only when sound also comes out of the other speakers that there is buzzing. Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
