Just curious on people's experience/suggestions regarding bias lighting. I've read it provides a noticeable contrast improvement in dark viewing conditions.

I see there's a bunch of $20 options on Amazon with a couple more expensive $60-90 listings that claim to be more accurate. I read a few reviews that the cheap versions may have a slight blueish hue. I believe the correct color temp should be 6500k.

Any feedback?

I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

Cheers.

I've been using their Ideal-Lume for a few years now and it's great. It not only helps to eliminate eyestrain but it also gives me the impression of increased contrast and black levels.

Not all of these lights though are created equal and some of them can actually degrade picture quality rather than improve it.

This cost me $50 to do all from ebay on our LG Hecto a 100 Inch Short throw Projector.. Its Led strip lights (3528 LED) with Radio Freqencies 10 stage dimmer. It Attracted some interest from the Manufactures. Who know maybe Hisense 100 Inch Cast Short Throw Projector like it and they reproduced it. Had it for2.1/2 years Haaa.

I use these on my JS9500 and there great and they're a ture accurate 6500k bias lighting. To me it's the best out there. Great for eye strain and helps for TV'S that don't have the best black levels.

I don't use any on my 75Z9D but I have it in a dark controlled lighting room. And I only use the ones in that room for eye strain.

I use MediaLight Bias lighting http://biaslighting.com. Very easy to install regardless of how your panel is installed (wall mount or console) and works extremely well. The LEDs are accurate at 6500k with a CRI of 90.
I use this too. Love it. It's on all the time. Much easier on the eyes and makes the contrast look better.

The MediaLight does come with a tiny remote control that you can set for 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% brightness. You can either use an extra USB port on the tv for power or use the included ac adapter. I use the adapter and have it connected to an outlet that I can control from a light switch on an adjacent wall. We only use it at night and just hit the switch on the wall in the evening.

Great options! The thing I'm concerned about with the medialight and cinemaquest offerings is the fact that they do not cover the entire perimeter of the display, only the sides. Looking at the installed photos I can see the non uniformity with the top/bottom looking less intense than the sides. Worried this might annoy my ocd.
Still looking at the other great options y'all posted. Hopefully this can serve as a list of all the legit bias lighting options available so others can easily weed out the low quality units.

^^^^ my MediaLight equally covers the sides as well as the top on my panel. It's not a complete semi-circle but certainly achieves the desired effect.

Yet another vote for the MediaLight 6500K. I have a single strip running along the top half of my 88" Samsung and even though the blacks the TV generates are amazing, the perception of them is that much improved, and eye strain is greatly alleviated. Looks great and highly recommended.

I've used bias lighting with all my 3 LCD displays with positive results. For wall-mounted displays, wrapping the lights around the entire perimeter of the panel yields the most uniform result. TVs further from the wall can use single strips, since the light has sufficiently diffused by the time it reaches the wall.

I use Philips Hue strip lighting and it works great! And it has apps that allow you to control the colors from your phone.
