BIG DEBATE! AE1000u vs AE2000u vs 67" LED Samsung 67A750 vs 72" Samsung

Hello,

I have been going through quite the debate lately.

I have a basement so you all know.

I am having trouble choosing between the four listed above. I recently had gotten rid of the AX200u on a 102" Screen because everytime I would stop by my buddys and he would have his hd or PS3 running it was uncanny sharpness on his 61" Sammy. So my thought was to just jump in and get a 1080p projector, but now I am worried that I may not even see the same sharpness with that or clear picture. So with the size of the two screens I picked out I might not notice a difference between the DLP and the projector. Here are some advantages I found with each one.

AE1000u: Can now get at proview for $1600 shipped. 1080p clarity, huge screen, Panasonic quality.

My debate with these is 1100 Lumens, will I notice a difference from this to the AX200u besides it is less bright. Mobility, I can take to a friends, enjoy outside or basically anywhere. Will start times take longer. Do I really want to change a bulb after 1 year and half. Will it be any sharper?

AE2000u: I can get for $2100 shipped. Extra Lumens; new iris; rave reviews. My question is, is this really worth $500 more. Can you notice the $500 difference. Should I get the AE1000u and wait for a price drop on the new technology? Issues running Xbox 360 elite through 1080p through hdmi is this an issue ??

67" Samsung: I can get for $1900 shipped. Green technology, cheap to run and saves on electric bill. LED technology I never have to worry about changing a bulb. 3d technology for the future can see in 3d with glasses. Cinema smooth and 120hz. Can watch in light or dark. Uncanny sharpness maybe when compared to a projector, not tested but do not know where to test. Worrys are coming from a projector it might not be big enough. Not easily replaceable if I want to upgrade. Then have to spend another couple hundered on a stand.

72" Samsung: Huge, almost the same price at $2000 as the 67". Proven technology with regular DLP. 3D ready as mentioned above. Issues with changing bulbs. Is it really worth the 5" maybe? When I seen a 73" compared to a 67" I could tell the difference like mama bear to papa bear. Brightness slowly dims. Little wider more on electric bill. Still might not compare to 102" projected screen.

I really appreciate any feedback was looking at the new dark chip 4 Mitsubishi but I could have a 72" Samsung and an AX200 for their price. Please reply>

I would go with the AE2000U. Yes, I know I offerred no supporting facts.
^^Great suggestion TF Ghost! The AE2000 throws an excellent picture. You'll never be able to go back once you've been watching an 8ft + screen in HD. The AE1000 had the AX100 iris issue, although very few were affected. It'd be a toss up between the two, with the AE2000 winning out, but I'm not sure it's worth $500.00 more.
sounds like the uncanny sharpness you are looking for may be attributed to the 120hz technology of the rptv.

the only way you will get that is from an rptv, not any of the projectors you mentioned.

personally, I would go for the ae2000
I agree wthe edfowler
Beside the iris issue what would be the biggest advantage of spending $500 on the ae2000u over the ae1000u?

I will mostly be using my Xbox 360 elite playing games on this and the PS3 for movies.

I also looked at the HC4900 but I heard once you goto Panasonic Projector it is hard to switch to a different brand and 3d technology sounded really cool.

I just went with the panasonic after previewing it against the Z2000. I am very satisfied with it.

AE2000 is said to be dead accurate 6500K/D65 out of the box , a calibration of that level would cost from $300 to $400 by an ISF tech . Over all the 2000 is superior to the 1000 and even though it is not a night and day difference I would have to say yes it is worth the extra $500 ( at least it would be to me because when you add up all the smaller differences it makes for a bigger over all IQ difference
) .

no tv compares to a pj for that immersive cinema feel. a 70 inch tv, which used to sound huge to me, now sounds tiny. of course with a pj you have to deal with issues like buying a screen, keeping the lights off, painting the walls/ceiling so there are no reflections, etc. it can become a headache compared to a tv but it's worth it. the AE2000 is probably the way to go but keep in mind that a cheaper projector in a bat cave can look better than a more expensive pj in a room with reflective white walls/ceilings/floors.
that is a very good price for the AE2000--makes it an even clearer choice.
Could you send me a PM as to where you are getting that price on the ae2000?

Ditto!!
Well it is remanufactured and you can get it from proviewdigital I have a coupon but anyways, it seems overwhelming that people would choose the ae2000u over even a 72" with the 3d technology, is 3d a gimmick?

The picture must be sharp on this unit? Do you guys think the difference is huge against the ax200? That is what I had and the picture was good but not as sharp as the samsung?

Do bulbs last estimated time or shorter?

Hello, are you guys bias because I listed in a projector forum though, if I listed in a dlp forum would you state the same thing.
If you planning on using the projector at like 70"? I say it's a waste and stick with the smaller displays.

at 92" and above, only the projector(s) will fit the bill here.

The smaller screens just shouldn't even be compared to projectors at all in my opinion.
^^I agree. It's like trying to compare a squash to a pumpkin. (it took me a solid 5 minutes to come up with that)

Most of us have had large TV's and speak from experiencing both. My previous set was a Sony 65" XBR2. My Infocus IN76 projected onto it's 110" screen is by far a more immersive experience. Like others have said, a 70" set seems miniscule in comparison.

Frankly buying a projector was the best thing I ever did for my home theater. It truly makes it a theater experience. I have yet to walk into any of the A/V boutiques in my area and look at a TV that gave me the urge to trade.
I just wish there was a place in the detroit metro area you could view these before you bought them. I read through some of these forums and seen some people state the ae2000u is not that much better then the ax200u.
yes, that's the thing about opinions...

There are always conflicting impressions.

Recently people are posting how their tiny flat panels are sooo much better than any projetcor... My opinion on that is simply "give me a break"...
