I am finishing up my sonosub build. I am connection the binding post and have drilled the holes in my mdf bottom cap.

Is there any need to put some type of insulation/protection around the binding post where the connector(soldered to the wire) is so close to the frayed mdf (from drilling)? Would prefer not to burn down my sub and home

thanks

You will be perfectly safe . I usually sand the area lightly where the hole is drilled to remove any loose material though.
