I just go off the fhone with someone at Vutec. this screen is a true black made of a rosin matirial with a amazing contrast ratio of 60.1 and 2.5 gain in a couple of month is going to be available for comercial use, but a asked him what about home theater use? the answer was we are working on this too. So I am going to Indianapolis to take a close look. Rick

Do you know how they are determining that the screen has a contrast ratio of 60:1?

I also didn't know the screen has contrast ratio. What he told - me, this is a complete new technology that defenetely will help LCD projector reach higher contrast without any loss of whites and color saturation. I guess one could say all screens has contrast ratio, they all have diferent light reflectivity and absorption, specially the HC now on the market, offcource this is just a speculation. I will let you know more about it when I see it and I am sure that the crew from AVscience will give us more technical information when they get it. Rick.

I removed, for two risons: one topic about this screen I think is enough so it wouldnt cloug up this forum and second when I see that screen in person at CIDEA I'll post my personal opinion about it.

Did you say "black" screen?


I've not been in this area for some months as I've been quite happy with my home-made black out screen. Just came in because someone brought that thread back up and I had a notify message in my mailbox. I keep wanting to try a grey screen (even bought the custom paint a couple months ago) but never find the time.


Now I see a 2.5 gain and "black"?


Please elaborate.
