Now all I need is A Clockwork Orange and pretty much my top 10 movies will all be out in HD.
This was the first R rated movie I watched in a theater.

It is a must buy and I am really looking forward to it.
Is this going to be teh Final Cut with all of Scott's scenes in it, or just the theatrical/director's/not complete version?

Only time will tell, seamless branching anyone?

It was said previously that all the specs from the box set would make it to the HD versions. I'll believe it when I see it too, but the fact that ad even says "Essential 25th Anniversary Edition" in it and not just "The Final Cut" (which is what Scott's new edit is supposedly called) seems to hint at that direction.

Hopefully they will use seamless branching to include both cuts, but IMO they won't. Blade Runner never really made sense until you saw the director's cut, so I do hope they use the DC instead of the TR.
No one else is discouraged that the insert just says HD DVD for Blade Runner? I know the Bits failed to comment on that too.

I doubt we'll see it in October on Blu-ray. They'll probably hold off like all the other highly anticipated WB titles. Either for MIME or just to boost HD DVD sales.

I believe that's on the other side of the insert with the Kubrick collection, clearly stated for both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

Not me since I own both, being format neutral means not worrying about this type of stuff.
It looks like HD DVD will get BLADE RUNNER first with BD later on. Same pattern as THE MATRIX.

I'd rather save a few hundred bucks and wait, especially since software prices should fall in time too.

I'm keeping my 1988 Criterion Laserdisc (CAV version)! Too many fond memories to let go of it. Seems like just yesterday that I was putting it on the laserdisc platter for the first time. Seeing Bladerunner at home in widescreen was a revelation (vs previous P&S VHS). Very hotly anticipated title back then. Nothing much has changed. Very hotly anticipated title now. Very exciting times then - and NOW.

I have a bad feeling Blade Runner will be an HD DVD exclusive. When I opened my Matrix HD DVD set the slip of paper with the advertisment had two sides the First side had the Kubrick movies and said will be availible in both HD DVD and Blu-Ray the other side had Blade Runner with only HD DVD logos. If the standard dvd of the movie is gonna be 4 or 5 disc like weve heard before, Iam sure Warner will go all out and HD DVD will include IME therefore the Blu-ray might be delayed.
I suppose the special edition(5-disc!!) will follow after this version. I think i will buy all versions of Bladerunner, though..he he!

I hope the restauration will be outstanding and the sound will be a glorious LPCM track.

From a chat with WB:

Quote:
[NickH] Any news on the big Blade Runner SE (i.e. release date, contents, etc)?

[WARNER] The Tyrell Corporation is furiously working away on a release to knock your socks off before the holiday season. The contents are still being formulated. All the different iterations of the film will be available, including the new FINAL CUT. We think you'll be very pleased, and it will have been worth the wait!

[JeremyG] Thank you for the chat. Will there be a multi-disc HD set for Blade Runner? Or will HD buyers get only one version, like the Superman: The Movie HD edition? Looking forward to more HD titles this year...any hints as to titles to be announced soon (Harry Potter perhaps...)?

[WARNER] There will be a lot more HD product announced (HD-DVD and Blu Ray Disc) by us in the next few weeks. We hope you'll be pleased. It is our intention to have the BLADE RUNNER releases all contain the same content, regardless of format.
"I'm keeping my 1988 Criterion Laserdisc (CAV version)!"

Did that version look any better than the DVD release? I thought the DVD looked horrible, it was very disappointing.

Also anyone with the Blade Runner insert from the Matrix set what does it say about the Kubrick films? Any estimate release date on those? My matrix set won't be here for another week or so.
