I own a (standalone) Tivo, and I'm thinking about signing up with Blockbuster's deal for DirecTV. I think I've read on this forum that Tivo doesn't work with the E11 that comes with the Blockbuster deal? I thought that Tivo had IR codes for most external boxes. This would imply that Tivo does *not* have IR codes for the E11? Or does it just mean that it has to use IR, and can't use any kind of serial connection?
So can I use my existing Tivo with the E11? Thanks in advance.
This is a bit off topic, but you might want to consider the Philips DSR6000 DirecTiVo receiver available from Circuit City for $99. It has optical audio out which the E11 lacks (I have both receivers) and the ability to record the original MPEG2 stream with no quality degradation is great. The liability is that it can not record non-DTV signals. For more information see the TiVo area.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am very aware of the $99 DSR6000. The thing is, I already have my (self-modified 65 hour) Tivo, plus I might want to record from an external OTA antenna instead of paying the $6/month to subscribe.
Really, I'm just more curious than anything else. I'll probably initially put my Tivo in front of the E11, and then later get the DSR6000.

Do you also have an OTA antenna for local channels? Tivo can integrate both feeds, from an OTA antenna and the output of the E11, right?

I do and it can, yes. I actually get locals from DirectTV, but need OTA for UPN & local PBS. Using Tivo's "Channels I receive" you can select between the satellite and OTA channels totally painlessly.
