New to all of those and somewhat a novice! What would cause my speakers to blow, when I'm not playing music? About to play some vinyl when buzzing noise suddenly started and left speaker blew... Should mention it was my husbands system, so I'm majorly in the dog house...

I had been playing music for about an hour, taken the vinyl off the turntable, everything ok at this stage. Returned record clamp to spindle, and then a loud tone came out of left speaker. Left power amp tripped and needed resetting.

Speakers are PCM 21s and amps are Cyrus. It's set up so there are 2 amps running as mono blocks.

I would say blown output on the amp?

+1. It's a sound that I too have heard several times. The good news is that on most of those occasions there were things like speaker fuses and speaker protection relays.
