Hello Everyone,

Alright so I have a LG GGC-H20L blu ray internal blu ray drive and a new boot of windows xp. Iam using powerdvd 7.3 ultra 3319a and Arcsoft Total Media 3 Platinum. Whenever I pop in a blu ray into the drive it windows doesnt even recognize it as a blu ray and it doesn't even recognize the blu ray drive(it just says cd drive). So when I start up powerdvd or total media and try to play it the screen goes blank and theres a spinning dvd gif in the middle of the screen. Then the programs dont want to respond after that. I have actually tried purchasing another blu ray drive(sony BDU-X10S) and trying that one instead. It still did not work. I have also loaded windows vista which had the same result. I'am also using anydvd hd and using all of its features to play blu ray. I dont know what else to do, I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks.

What mainboard are you using?

Recently, I have used Blu-ray under 6150, G31, and G45 mainboards under Vista x64. No tinkering was needed. It was a simple matter of installing the drivers and the software. Hardware was the LG combo drive and Radeon 4550 video card.

All I can tell you is I feel your pain.

I have been living with this Blu Ray internal nightmare for 9 months. I have been trying to make a Sony BDUX 10 be reliably recognized for all these months. I've asked for help in the forum but no one knows what to do. Sony doesn't know. Yesterday I got fed up and decided to buy a new motherboard. I have thrown about three hundred dollars at this drive since I bought it in December. New memory, two new video cards, postage fees, new CPU, and now a new motherboard. I have returned one to the store, sent two back to Sony. I can get it to be seen in a scotch taped and glued version Windows XP but for whatever reason I can't access the internet. It does play Blu Rays great though. The new motherboard recognizes the drive beautifully now. But none of the players will play a blu ray yet after working on it for eight hours.

I have tried version PowerDVD 7.3 which clogs up after 8 seconds. Power DVD 8 ultra starts the disc and clogs at the menu. Power DVD9 ultra starts with a black screen and freezes.

It must be a bottleneck because I can't seem to play even You Tube or Hulu correctly which I have never had a problem with. The only thing is...its just so typical. Its always a days and weeks long struggle to play Blu Ray. I'd start a post asking where to look but I am almost resigned now to a clogged up system that does everything but play a god damned blu ray. Or a hobbled system I have to jump through hoops and reboots to make it wor

And what pisses me off is; except for you, I seem to be the only one with the problem. All the reviews say they dropped it in and it played everything perfect. Its been selling for years. And when I sent the drive back to Sony they said it worked fine in their system.

So now I have a clean system, all new guts, all new OS...running Windows 7 release candidate. And I still can't play a f*&@##g Blu Ray disc without it choking.

Well at I thought it was working..completely at least.I thought it would fully work because i popped in a blu ray and it started playing with all those trailers and the usual start ups. It gave me the black screen again. So then I decided to exit anydvdhd and try a blu ray and so far that is working....I will post back here once I tested it more. Maybe only certain blu rays works and some just cant cause software needs to be updated.

Dell Vostro 220S, e7400 w 4gb RAM, Win7 64-bit clean install, PowerDVD 7.3, Sapphire 4550, LG Combo drive. Works great.

I haven't tried a Sony Blu-ray drive because the LGs were the same price, had HD-DVD compatibility, and were bundled with PowerDVD 7.3. Plus the LGs are so easy to get working now I see no need to change.

I've built three machines this last year and in all of them the Blu-ray drives work without any special effort. One is a homebuilt based on a Foxconn G45, another is a homebuilt based on a Foxconn G31, and the last is a Dell Vostro 220S that I bought on eBay in stripped-down form.

What movies have you tried so far?

Have you purchased these discs or rented from Netflix?

Can you get hold of any HD-DVDs to try out in your drive?

If you have the latest AnyDVD (as you say), you shouldn't have any problems and the software does not need to be updated.

Something else is going on.

I have tried Friday the 13th so far. As well as BBC's Earth. I'am resting them from blockbuster. I don't have any hd dvds with me to try and yes I'am using the latest anydvdhd version. It's confusing for me to figure out.

I was just coming over to find that topic about blu ray playing and saw this one. I just had my first BR problems last night that wasn't with the remote control.

I was watching True Blood, Season 1, Disc 1 that I got via Netflix. Everything started up fine and I watch the first episode with no problem. But when I tried to start episode 2 things went crazy. The menu seemed to freeze up and would repeat a small part of the menu music about every 30 second or so. The next episode would not play. I could not get any response from the controls by either the remote or the mouse. I had to go to the old Task manager to close PowerDVD 9 Ultra.

I reopened PDVD and hit the play button and it locked up. Task manager once again. Reopened PDVD and then I turned off anything that normally starts up automatically: MoovieLive, DL disc info, etc. But whenever you start the disc it always seems to be downloading something, maybe from the disc itself. Got to the menus and it locked up again. I rebooted the PC and then I was able to watch the disc.

I've never had this problem before with any SD or BR that I've played and I'm wondering if it something to do with HBO releases or what. I'll have disc 2 on Saturday and I'll see if the same thing happens then.
