Bluesound's Node is a popular streaming solution among audio enthusiasts seeking a premium music player that strikes a reasonable balance between price, features and performance. The company has updated the line and today announces its latest iterations: The NODE ($549) and POWERNODE ($899).

As the name implies, the fundamental difference between the NODE and POWERNODE is that the POWERNODE incorporates amplification (80 W per channel into 8 ohms). Otherwise, the devices are fundamentally similar, sharing the same specifications. But, the new hardware definitely brings added features and functionality to the table, including a HDMI eARC input, which makes these new Bluesound devices much more AV friendly.

Bluesound says the new devices benefit from more powerful processing (Quad-core 1.8GHz ARM® Cortex™ A53 processor) and a superior DAC (32-bit/384kHz). Of course these Bluesound players are fundamentally connected, networked devices and as such they broad support when it comes to inputs, encompassing AirPlay 2, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus Ethernet. And there's the eARC plus optical-digital and coaxial-digital inputs, plus USB audio. You also get stereo analog input.

This player has IR input and IR learning, in case you want to program a remote to control it. It has a headphone jack, so can be used as a headphone amplifier. It also has a subwoofer output, and supports wireless subwoofer connection. it supports the three mains popular voice assistants: Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The NODE and POWERNODE are available to preorder now and are slated to ship in June 2021.
