Bluray Freezing on 1.7 release

I've had my PS3 for two weeks and had an opportunity to rent the Bluray version of The Prestige (good movie by the way). The movie played fine for about the first hour and then froze and unfroze itself several times over a 10 minute period. Then the rest of the movie played fine to the end. The disk was a rental from Blockbuster and I assumed there was a scratch or something on the disk, but on inspection, it looked pristine to me. A previous Bluray rental had played without a problem.


I know the Bluray freeze problem was well documented under earlier releases but I thought that 1.6 or 1.7 corrected that? Maybe this was just a querky disk? Has anybody else experienced Bluray freezes under 1.7?

No B/D freezing here since 1.7...it certainly could be a faulty disc. I would keep trying other b/d's and see what happens. I have not seen anyone posting about b/d freezing in quite a long time.

...that was my understanding too about BD freezing having been corrected. I will try other discs and post back here... Thanks for the reply.

No bluray freezes on my 1.7 firmware PS3...I did have then on 1.54 firmware....
