I went to my local JoAnn's today to look for BOC. They had Rol-Con budget black out fabric for 5.99/linear yard. The fabric was not a pure white but sort of a "dirty" white. For those who have used BOC and are happy with it, is this the same stuff you use? Does the not so bright white have any negative effects on image/color/contrast? I imagine it might help with the blacks at the expense of brightness?

The BOC I bought from Carlofet.com is slightly off white as well and works fine (and also 110" wide), so I would assume the Joann fabric would work too. What you don't get is a boost in contrast that you get by painting it. Check out my thread: 144" BOC Screen...

I recently purchased BOC from JoAnn fabric as a temporary screen to go along with my Epson 8100. I don't recall the name brand though but it was the same price as your BOC. The cloth is 54 inches in width by 108 long. One thing I noticed once the material was hung was a vertical line going from top to bottom. It looks to be were the BOC was folded at one time. I somewhat expected that. What I didn't expect was 2 different shades of color at the fold. To the left of the vertical fold, the screen was much whiter as compared to the right side. This is my first experience with BOC.

As I said above this screen is only temporary for me. My Center Stage XD material will be here this week

When I bought my black out cloth from JoAnn the material was made by Roc Lon. It was white on one side (the usable side) which had a rubberized surface. The other side was off white (not suitable for use as a screen). The material was 54" wide.
