I 'm looking to get a 5.1 speaker system (i.e. 4 bookshelf speakers, center, sub) for less than $700. I'm looking to connect to a Marantz 5200 receiver for 80% home theater use. Just from some brief auditions i prefer the fuller sound of bookshelf speakers (which i plan to use w/ speaker stands). The room is 13x18 w/ 10' ceilings. If anyone could comment on the Acoustic Research HC 6 system that would be helpful too. Please include prices w/ any suggestions (don't include cost of speaker stands in the $700). Any input would be appreciated.

Hmm... I know you said you prefer bookshelf speakers, but I think a good satellite speaker matched with a powerful sub is a great combination.

How about 5 NHT SuperZeros ($80 - $100 each) and a $200 100 W Sub?

If you must have Bookshelf Monitors, you could spend a tad more and get the 3 full range NHT SuperOnes and Two SuperZeros for Surrounds. You can get the SuperOnes between $120 - $150.
