Hi Everyone,
I could use some advice, input on these three speaker lines as far as a bookshelf speaker purchase.

Considering:
Sonos Fabre Venere 2.0
Monitor Audio Gold PL 100
McIntosh XR 50

I have a Vintage(not previously used until this past week), Harman Kardon Citation 16 Series A, 2 channel amp.
Integra DRX-5 Receiver, bookshelf speakers will be used as my main front speakers.

I'm looking for which set of speakers can keep up with this amp.

I do already own a Monitor Audio Sub and Center channel but the specs on the Monitor Audio Gold bookshelf speakers only show power handling at 120 W
Sonus handles up to 200w
McIntosh 300W.

I'm not against upgrading my center channel(20 years old), nothing wrong with it currently, so as to match a pair of Sonos Fabers or McIntosh.

You can read I am all over on this decision and have various things to consider.
PLEASE - any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

For music or mostly surround sound?

Center and sub are most important speakers for surround.

Left and right for mostly music.

All available at Crutchfield with $10/box return charge so buy them ALL and decide for yourself.

None of them will have problems with your amp but the XR50s are not very sensitive so you will have to turn up the volume control a lot to reach the same volume as the others.

Thanks for responding Geoff,

The new bookshelf fronts will be used mostly for 2 channel audio.
They are a part of my 5.1 surround sound but more concerned with how they will perform with the HK Citation 16A amp.
If I do switch to Sonos Fabre bookshelves I would want to then have the matching center channel.

Great idea, I think I will purchase both the Monitor Audio Gold and the Sonus Fabre Venere's and try them out in my living room first. That is really the best way to make a decision.

I think I will back off on the McIntosh line for now.

Great.

Look forward to your impressions.

The Polk LSiMs are worth a listen if you want a third choice.

Take a look at Revel Performa series. M106 and C208.

If the Citation amp has not been used for a long time, it may need to be serviced and have capacitors replaced.

Just because it can deliver 200 W into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms does not mean you will ever use that many watts (play speakers that loud) especially if they are efficient.
