Bose and Yamaha problem...please help

393 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  rallen
Here is my problem....first of here is what i am working with.

1. TV with no analog audio outputs, just digital coax output

2. Bose Cinemate Speaker system...speakers can only be connected through two RCA connectors (White, Red)

3. Yamaha HTR 5940 audio receiver.

How can I connect my Bose sound system to my Yamaha receiver. Receiver does not have PREOUT section. It seems like it can only connect speakers via speaker wire...any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

EBay for your Bose Cinemate Speaker system
If the bose require RCA connections (yet another absurdity from bose), and the Yamaha doesn't have pre-outs, the only other option would be to use the Tape Out, but you would only be getting stereo sound.

Ditch the Bose.
A tape out would have no volume control either, correct?
Radio Shack used to sell cables that had "speaker wire" type bare wire on one end and RCA connectors on the other. How the sound quality would be is another story however.
