my home was wired for surround per builder. there is one coaxial and a small jack that looks just like a phone jack. i have speaker wires in the top four corners of the room. i have a bose ls 18. there is a hdmi converter, however, does the current wiring i described above, carry the hdmi signal or are there other wiring needs to watch hd and have hdmi capability?

The small jack is probably a CAT5 wire which can be used for a computer network signal or sending an HDMI signal with an HDMI-to-CAT5 balun (the type that only require one CAT-5, most require two).

The HDMI signal goes from you HD source to your TV or to the Bose and requires an HD cable. If the Bose has an HDMI output, then that goes to the TV with another HDMI cable. You can buy inexpensive, good quality HDMI cables, from sources such as Blue Jeans Cable, or Monoprice.

I have no idea. You have provided almost no information of what's there and what you're trying to do. Like you wanting a projector, a TV? where are these wires, what are they, and where do they go?

Let me re-cast your question in a way perhaps you can understand what you're asking: Hey, I need directions to get somewhere. Can you help me? I don't know where I am right now, but I'm on a street, and I'd like to go to my favorite restaurant. Can you give me a map on how to get there from where I am?
