Has anyone heard or seen the new Boston E-Series speakers? I'm interested in the flagship E100. At $5000 a apir, they must be something pretty solid as Boston has a history of delivering a pretty good speaker for the $$.

Maybe someone caught them at CES???

Hmm Bostons makes solid but unexciting products, they are a very corporate, market-driven company.

It looks like their E series are styled to go with Plasma TVs (everyone is doing this these days), and to their credit, it looks like they are putting a deeper baffle than most companies are putting on their sleek plasma speakers.

Just understand that your paying a premium to get that sleek form factor, and it wont sound as good as a traditional full-sized speakers, which is a segment that Boston has ignored for 10 years.

I do like their in-wall 3-ways, if I was going to go full WAF, i would definitely consider their larger in-wall varieties ...

Bostons ain't cheap anymore though, they have a carefully cultivated brand-name, and you can get the same quality for cheaper, if your willing to forgo the Boston nameplate.

IMHO, Boston is NOT the same company it used to be.

They can't even produce a decent center channel speaker anymore!! I guess they feel that EVERYONE wants a POS small and sleek center, instead of a full sized CC like the VR12/14/920.

I USED to think they had a clue, I do not think that anymore, hence MY personal move away from them.

This is JMO, but LISTEN to the garbage they call a CC nowadays, and you tell me.

Corporate BS at it's finest IMO. they should FIRE the chump in charge!!

Muzz your right, except I doubt you would suffer too much with 7 of these installed in your spare room:

8 inch woofer, 200 RMS, 42hz to 22khz, 4 ohms, swhissshhhh. These are verrryy nice in-walls. And they image like a good free-standing speaker.

But you have to look used, because BA wants $1k a pop.

Seeing VRi593 occasionally going for around $250-350 each used, makes em quite attractive.

I understand your comments about how Boston has changed over the years but would suggest that until someone hears their new line, it is all conjecture. I've owned many of their models: Lynnfield 300L and 500L (outstanding units), VR-M50, M60 (great for the money and size), numerous inwalls/inceilings, and the BT1s (better than M&K 150 for a dedicated theater.) I do agree that their main offerings found in BB, CC, etc. are weak, but their new E100, at $5000 has the potential, at least in my experience.

If anyone actually hears a pair, I'd find that the best measure of their ability.

I always liked BA stuff, I listened to them for years over a friends house(he was a big fan), and I've spent countless hours listening at Tweeter over the years, I used to just go in there and listen, then when I was looking for my own system, I went in there and listened some more... ended up buying CR75's, micro90's,CRC(arrgh), and PV600 sub(arrgh).

I really liked the VRM50/60 bookshelves, but couldn't afford them at that time.

My frustration with BA stems from their CC lineup these days(hence my post), as IMO it is THE most important speaker in a HT.

For music, I bet that their lineup sounds very good.
