bought a bic h100 sub on ebay, big problem

so i bought a used h100 sub on ebay and i arrived yesterday. i can't tell you how excited i was when i hurry home on my break from work and saw the sub sitting in my front door. anyway, i got it out the box and ****, no power cord.

i found a couple ac cord that would fit the sub and hooked it up. nothing, no power. so i checked the fuse, yup! **** is blown. i when to radio shack this morning to get 4 new fuses. got home, put in the first new fuse and doom! blown, the stand by light turn on for about half of a second and there goes my new fuse. so i change different cables, and tried cutting the ground tip on the male plug that goes in to the wall outlet. you guess it, my second fuse is blown. so i took the speaker and the rear panel off the box and check the connection, but they seems to be good, no burning smell or anything like that. put everyting back on and tried again, there goes my third and fourth fuse.

i am so xkdfei pissed right now, i just want to come home from a long work day to enjoy some movie, i been waiting for a long time to save up for this one. wtfuoiafakldf.... sorry.

so what do you guys think? do i have a bad amp, a short somewhere? maybe not the right power cord, since the stock one only have 2 tip coming out of the sub, instead of 3 on the cable. also, the seller told me that the cable is somewhat heavier than regular ac cables. what's your opinion on this? i serious need some help right now, i am going nuts as i am TYPING THIS. I bought the BIC 100 & I had the same problem. No cord. They sent me a cord & then the amp was blowing fuses. I called them & they told me to send the amp back. It was defective & they sent me a new amp. Now it works great but, it was real incovenience ESPECIALLY SINCE I LIVE IN CANADA!!

I'm guessing that I'm the ebay seller that sold the subwoofer. As I said before, I tested it the day I shipped it and it worked great. The buyer did not want insurance so they could save a little money.

From the first post I can tell the buyer has already lied to me once since he said he checked the fuse before plugging it in and it was blown. My best guess right now is that the subwoofer was damaged in shipping and he is coming after me since he didnt want insurance.

If I was going to try to screw someone out of money on ebay I would not be doing it on a pretty low dollor item and I probably would have insisted on insurance. I was more than willing to do everything I could to help out and was going to ship a subwoofer cord along with the power cord since you needed one. I guess now we can wait and see what ebay wants to do about it now.

Now I know why some people refer to them as Flea Bay.

Why not just ship him the power cable? Maybe the cable he is using is the problem? I don't understand why you wouldn't want to send it now and find out?

I have 121 100% positive feedback on ebay and have never had a problem before. I wouldn't want an isolated case to cause people to avoid ebay.
All I can say to the poster is lesson learned. You couldn't have saved that much over going with the ebay authorized dealer where they sale for excellent prices and although it would have been an inconvenience everything would have been taken care of promptly with shipping paid both ways.

Good Luck and remember that in future purchases.
I did buy my sub new from accoustic sound design. I had to pay to ship the amp back. Not a big deal it was only $12.

You should see if your used sub is still under warranty.
I don't mean to offend, but are you sure the fuse is correctly rated for the amp? Perhaps the blown fuse it came with was a result of using the wrong fuse and if you bought the same rated fuse to replace it with it would blow too.

I'm 100% sure the fuse is right
I just bought like 10 more fuse, can I disconnect the sub from the amp to determine which part is faulty? If the fuse doesn't blow after I disconnect the sub from it, then there's a short between the wiring in the sub. Otherwise, it will be the amp. If it is the amp, then I can look more into it or just bring the amp to a professional, right
Just my two cents...I ordered the H-100 from Overstock last month, and guess what. No cord! In this case I e-mailed BIC and they had the manufacturer send me a cord. I connected the subwoofer and all was well. I'm curious, though. Anyone else not get a cord with their shipment?
The cord came with mine through the eBay auctions.

I never had to replace the fuse while I owned it. I'm not sure about this specific fuse or fuses in amps in general, but their can be two types of fuses at the same amperage. One is fast blow and the other is slow blow. It can be hard to tell the difference between the two sometimes. The fast blow might not work in this case if there is a spike in the amount of current the amp draws when it is first turned on. This spike would be less than 1 sec but could be enough for the fast blow fuse to go. The slow blow fuses would not blow. This might not have anything to do with this case, but could be a possabiltiy.

just got home from work. before i put in another fuse, i decided to pull out the power board. one of the main capacitor is toasted. it reads "JIALON 200V" Cap. so you mean to tell me that this happen during the shipping?

the reason i didn't pay for insurance was, first, it seems like you are a trusted seller on ebay, second i never ever had any DOA in my past experience from buying something on ebay. please tell me what you are going to do about this. the sub is useless to me.

I have said it several times, the subwoofer was working the day I shipped it. You have already lied to me about checking the fuse before you plugged it in so why should I believe you now? Obviously if the cap is actually blown it did not blow during shipment but something else could have happened during shipping that made it blow once it was plugged in.

I was trying to look into warranty info for the sub because I think it might have still been covered. Pretty much all the warranty info I would have had was shipped with the sub and was in a plastic sack inside the box. I think the length of the warranty was even written on the outside of the box. If you can check it and see how long the warranty is I might be able to help. We can talk about this more through ebay if you want.
