I have a 169time modified DTC-100 and Dish 6000 and when my JVC 30K went down I bought a used Mitsubishi 1100 D-VCR w/o remote and can't record HD with it.

The cables are good and the 1100 plays back old 30K recorded HD tapes superbly.

It is wired...

DTC100 ---> AVX1 ---> Mits 1100 ---> Mits HDTV with fireware

1. Is this the correct wiring?

2. The IEEE1394 light is not on in the 1100, should it be?

3. I don't see a JVC equivalent of firewire inputs...I1, I2 etc on the 1100's front panel, should I?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes the light should be on when the devices recognize each other. The light is also the activate button. The Mitsubishi uses D1, D2, D3, D4 for firewire sources. The firewire selection is the button on the far upper right of the front panel. For some odd reason, mine is on D4 although I only have one firewire device connected. If it refuses to identify a D number rather than L or a channel number, I think it isn't recognizing the source. I have printed out specific instructions for getting the devices to recognize each other, it is more difficult than a 30K but I don't have the instructions bookmarked although a search should find it. I believe the 169time website has a link to the instructions for using a Mitsubishi 2000U, which will work for the 1100U.
