I finally did it. I've only been shopping for a new projector for 2-3 weeks now, what got me looking is that I saw an XGA projector at a local store on special for about $400 before Christmas but it wouldn't have been an upgrade from my current XGA LCD projector (it was however a great first projector for my friend).

This got me into looking for an upgrade for my XGA LCD Sharp PG-A10X. It quickly became apparent from the info on these forums that the Sharp DT-510 was among the best for the prices I wanted to pay, and I like my current Sharp one (it just has poor 450:1 contrast but an otherwise unbelievable image quality) so I like the idea of staying with Sharp. I also knew I wanted to move to DLP for my next one especially for better black levels.

I'm going to start building my screen soon, maybe even today, and modify my current home made mount to fit the new DT-510. I currently have a 72" 4:3 screen, I will now have an 82" 16:9, this projector is in my bedroom by the way which is why I can't make a bigger screen (I could get 2-3 feet more by redesigning the room but but it's more than big enough as it is). The extra wideness will probably make me feel even more like I'm there.

Thanks for all the info on these forums that made it much easier to make my choice.

Well I went to the hardware store and Sears and got the wood and screws etc. to build the frame and got a $15 bed sheet at Sears for the screen (that's how I made my current 72" 4:3 screen).

The frame is already built, I just need to spray paint it in mat black and staple the bedsheet to it.

I may eventually buy proper screen material as I saw it's quite cheap on ebay now, but the 5 years I had my LCD PJ I used a bed sheet with great results.
