Brand New HDA1 Froze playing MATRIX DVD

It froze during the first half of the movie, dropped the picture...and locked up.


Had to hold the ON/OFF button down for 10 seconds to shut it down.


The player seems fine after that, but is this a common thing with this player? I know its quirky..and I didn't try going back into the movie to keep testing because I'm still trying to dial in the new Front Projector.


Anyone have any thoughts on this?


Should I just keep a nice clean cloth near the unit and give everything a good wipe-down before I pop it in?

I don't think i'v seen enyone have the skipping issue with SD-DVD, could well be just that, a dirty disc :)

Where did you buy the Matrix on HD DVD? I'd luv to get one :)

I think it was the SD DVD.


To the OP: Never happened to me before. Have you updated your firmware? Was the disc clean? How do you have it connected (HDMI?)?

No he didn't, my bad for speed reading his post and assuming it was.....


The Matrix has been on Amazon's HD DVD list (not yet released) for a while.

For what it's worth, this was a problematic disc for some players when it was first released, but I don't think the A1 should have problems with it (I'm assuming it's the initial release, not the one in the boxed set).

My A1 has had hard lockups playing DVD's from Rhino, has happened 3 for 3 so far. That was with fw 1.4, just upgraded to 2.0 yesterday, interesting to see if there will be any change.
