Brand New Sanyo 21N(Boxlight 38T actually) question?

Dan G or anyone else who might know-

I just received my new projector and actually have to send it back http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif because there is one column of pixels on the far left and one on the far right that just glow brighter than the rest of the screen. kinda like a filter is misaligned or something. I only had a chance to test it with a 480I DVD into the composite video input but the picture looked pretty fuzzy(staticy). Is this to be expected with that combination or will the new projector probably look cleaner?

Thanks for the help.

My 21N has a single column of pixels like that on the left. It seems to be a minor thing and does not bother me. They are to the far left and are hardly noticable.

Maybe we are seeking perfection above and beyond what we accept in a CRT or rear projection set???

I actually have a green vertical line one pixel wide on the right hand of the screen. After a closer examination of text with my PC connection, I noticed that the whole right hand side of the screen displays green shadows around the white text. I think this is a convergence problem. The left half of the screen looks great.

I will call tech support to see what they say but I am not too happy about that.

Glad your problem is getting resolved.

Regarding picture quality, 480i DVD's should look ok, but not great. With mine the picture was rock solid colors were good, but motion produced lines.

Perhaps this staticky problem was due to shipping too.

I would look into a scaler or 480p source to do the Sanyo justice.

I did purchase it from Studio Experience and will be returning it to them.

I was curious to know exactly what was wrong so I called Boxlight tech support. Within 15 seconds I was talking to a technical specialist. He believes the problem was caused due to shipping and is either the an LCD panel convergence problem or the integrator lens needing adjustment. He offered to exchange it for me but I prefer to go through Studio Experience since it is still within the 30 day period.

I am glad I did call tech support however since now I have first hand experience of Boxlight's service and I like it. The technician seemed to be knowledgable and very willing to help and gave me his full name and number to call back in case I changed my mind and wanted him to handle the return. I do not know how Sanyo's service is like but I am happy I bought a Boxlight.
