Given the frenzy and questions in the other Bravo D1 threads, I am

creating this thread for D1 owners to post "statements" about

their setup so that prospective buyers can go and find "facts".

In the follow-up posts, will D1 owners please state :

Display - eg. Marantz S2 pj

Output: (or input depending perspectvie), eg DVI 720P

Cable length and type: eg 1 meter Pacific Cable DVI-D

Previous DVD player: eg XP50 with 480P component

Audio output: eg analog, coax, or optical into B&K 50

If you are a D1 owner and you are not going to keep it, please

state why. Given that D1's are out of stock, you should find a quick

buyer. And I assume if you are keeping the D1, it has a better PQ

than your other DVD player(s).

Edit: I neglected to consider other DVD formats. So let's add

a general comments field to add some additional info like

DVD types used, "I hate this thing", "I love this thing", etc.

This is problaby futile but: PLEASE don't post questions here.

Either PM an owner, or use one of the other threads here.

Hopefully this will eliminate some questions once the posts start

coming in.

Cable: Connectronics Extended Distance DVI Male To Male, 25', bought from www.markertek.com

Previous DVD Player: Sony DVP-S7700 480i component

Comment: Significant improvement in picture quality over previous DVD player. Lip-sync problem on True Lies DVD. Minor distracting spinning noise on the unit when it starts loading the DVD.

Display: Fujitsu P50XHA10US

Output: DVI 720P, 1080i

Cable: 10' Belkin

Other DVD Player: Panny RP82

Audio Out: Digital, Optical

Comments: Just started Evaluation, but initial...Not significant improvement to the RP82.

Additional #1: Video high frequency response is superior to the RP82/component input. Most likely due to elimination of D/A - A/D path.

Additional #2: Excessive "DTS" lock time, >5sec. Digital or Optical output. This is real annoying during "layer change". DD is fine. The Panny RP82 does not create this problem.

Comments: Inital evaluations indicate significant PQ improvement over the RP82. I am having problems with the digital outputs, however.

Display: Fujitsu PDS-5001

Output: DVI 480p

Cable: 1Meter Monster DVI

Other DVD Player: Panasonic RP-82

Audio Out: Coaxial, optical

Comments: Doesn't really work. Can't get other resolutions. Picture is fine, but color is off, and would need to be recalibrated. RP-82 is just as good, over component.

Display: InFocus 7200 on an 110" diagonal screen

Output: DVI 720p

Cable: 30' DVI-D + P&D adapter, both from Digital Connection

Previous DVD player: Sony NS900V and NS755V, 480p,i component

Audio: Optical digital to B&K Ref 50 pre/prp

Comments: Digital coax audio will not work in my setup or on my machine. Apparent lip-sync (video slightly delayed) problems on select discs ("Sneakers" is the only one that I've noticed this on so far). Picture quality is a huge improvement over my other DVD setups. Required rather large changes to the Brigthness and Contrast on the 7200 compared with the settings for component.

Previous DVD player: Philips DVD-R1000 DVD+RW Recorder via progressive component

Comments: Stunning picture quality even though Grand Wega scales to its native resolution of 1366 x 768. I hear no difference in audio quality connected optical to my Integra DTR-8.3 receiver.

Previous DVD player: Kenwood Sovereign DV-5700

Audio: Optical digital to Integra Research RDC-7 pre/pro

Comments: Received last evening, had to clean the lens to get it to work, once working the picture was stunning. Far superior to my DV-5700 that I plan to keep because it is an awesome unit. Build quality is marginal, as others have stated.

Display: Sony Grand Wega 60XBR800

Output: DVI 720P

Cable: 3m Pacific Cable single link DVI-D

Previous DVD player: Panasonic RP-82

Audio: Optical digital to Denon upgraded 5800

Comments: Everything is working fine no problems, PQ is very good,

has an edge on my RP-82 using 720P or 1080i output, audio is the same.

I think this is only the beginning, the Bravo give's you a taste of what's to come in the next few year's. It's only going to get better.

Edit: Changed to 720P a better picture, 1080i has a little ringing.

Cable: DVI - InFocus M1-DA 2 meter cable + 2 meter extension DVI cable from Cables to Go

Previous DVD player: Pan. RP82

Comments: In A/B comparison with RP82, D1 has higher resolution better colors and better contrast. Did have one hang on intro menu to SWATOC. A little flakey but Oh! what a picture.
