On my plasma set, the unit originally was set to "Vivid" when I turned it on. I have changed it to "Standard" because of concerns I have heard about life of a plasma screen if the "torch" levels are set too high or too bright. Standard still looks great, but I wanted to get some more "expert" opinions about this issue. Other available settings are "Cinema" and "Automatic." Thanks for any advice forum members can provide.

Cinema mode is good if you're in a room with dim lights, or to give it that movie-like appearance.

I use mostly "Normal" and sometimes "Dynamic"

(similar to "Vivid" on Panny PX/PA Consumer Models ) depending on the source.


"Cinema" mode is too dull IMO.

Thanks. I watched the Superbowl last night in "Normal" mode, and it was plenty bright and sharp. If it can look that good and extend the unit's life, it's a good setting.
