Just old rules being cleared off the books. It hasn't been used in years, due to a Court ruling.

They deleted dozens of old rules yesterday, but the Media has only picked-up on the two...Fairness Doctrine and Broadcast Flag. The rest are mentioned, by number only, in today's FCC "Daily Digest".

That's good to know, thanks. Yeah, even the FCC's own press release didn't give a lot of detail.


Does this mean that all broadcast channel programming is now "Copy Freely"? I'm assuming that the rule elimination doesn't apply to cable programming, and that that can still (?) be flagged to limit copying.


This is of some interest to our family, as we're getting ready to "go live" with an HTPC setup to replace a cableco DVR with limited storage space.
