All,

My HV20 recently stopped capturing video (black screen), and I'm debating paying the $250 to Canon to have it repaired, or to put that $250 towards a new camcorder. Is there anything out there in the $500 range that has either:

1) Better IQ

or

2) Same IQ in a smaller form factor

My main complaint is that the HV20 was too big for my wife to lug around in her purse to take candid videos of the kids.

Also, purchased a Sony DSC-TX7 this weekend since it is tiny and shoots 1080i60, but the quality was subpar compared to the HV20. The video was "blockier", less vibrant, and had lots of hand shake visible. Will be returning to the store.

Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for your help.

Still one of the best HD Tape camcorders on the market, I would get it repaired or I can sell you mine since I just upgraded.
Well that is a matter of speaking of course, I haven't had a chance to compare my new Sony to my HV20.

Repair if not too expensive might be work it.
