How old and what model is it. For some, like many of the Sony subs, it's cheaper to just replace it as there are many comparable subs (or even better) that cost less than the cost to repair.
Sub repairs typically take $200+ (sometimes much more) and are warranteed for 30-90 days. You may need to pay both to-and-from shipping which can be exorbitant. With an inexpensive sub, you are better off getting something new.

If you are enamored with the Sony, just purchase another.
