Whoa. Brutal Legend's stock just shot up big time for me.

I've been a bit on the fence (cutscenes look great, but gameplay footage looks very average). But I had no idea they were licensing actual 80s metal music!

Have they finally kicked Activision to the curb?

Looks like Activision settled.

"Brutal Legend" has also been fighting another kind of battle: a legal one. Original publisher Activision sued Schafer's Double Fine Productions to stop the game's release by rival Electronic Arts, but attorneys for Activision notified a court last week that they reached a settlement. Schafer insists the game will indeed be unleashed in October.

"We are definitely coming out Rocktober 13th," he said, "and nothing will stop us."

Double Fine countersued, claiming Activision terminated its agreement to release the heavy-metal inspired game after a failed attempt to make it part of the company's lucrative ''Guitar Hero'' franchise.

Yeesh. Brutal Legend presented by Guitar Hero? Bite me, Activision.

1) Get a guitar

3) Make a few crappy movies and cameo appearances

4) ?

"Get an onversized Guitar, gain 40 lbs and be the next "D"...It's Simple!"

Reserve for GameStop Exclusive In-Game Guitar

You still have time to reserve Brütal Legend to get the GameStop Exclusive in-game guitar/weapon. The Tenacious-D-inspired guitar functions as both a musical instrument and a weapon, and it features additional sounds and visuals, as well as additional voiceover work by the inimitable Jack Black. Codes are available while supplies last.

Soprano-voiced lead singers and flashy guitarists get all of the glory on the stage, but it takes a hard-working roadie like Eddie Riggs to make it all happen. It will be up to him to save the world of metal when he's transported to a world where every heavy metal album cover you've ever seen comes to life. This game is going to rule, and if you don't get it, you've forgotten how to rock. And that's just sad, man. Sad

Best Buy's pre-order bonus is pretty cool. It's a gatefold record album sleeve you can keep your disc in. Just artwork though. They should've included the track list inside.

hm,, since I'll be buying this game at BB anyway maybe I should pre-order and get some of that sweets.. Thanks for the headsup
