Bryston amps for B&W N805

738 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  mfombellida
I would need advice on Bryston power amps for a pair of N805.

What could be the best combination:

1) 1 x B4-ST (2x250),

2) 2 x B3-ST (2x120 each) and bi-amp each 805 with one B3 (vertical bi-amping),

3) 2 x B3-ST bridged.

B&W says the ideal for their loudspeakers would be to bi-amp whereas Bryston (in the case of 2xB3) would opt for a bridged configuration.

Thanks for your comments.

I would either do option one or three. I also would probably go with the 4B-ST. If the N805s are current hungry, I might go with the 3B-STs in bridged mode.

I vote for option 1.

keep it simple. ive read that bridged operation has some caviets (sorry I dont remember them) and I think that passive bi-amping is just needless complexity. I think the power of the 4bst will be more than enough for the 805s.

Thanks for your reply. I am now waiting the answer of my retailer. I hope I'll be able to arrange some demo at home. I'll let you know.

Thanks Hootch. I did not think about the PowerPack 120 but it looks like a good idea indeed. I'll ask my dealer for a demo (they already confirmed that the Brystons are working very well with the B&W speakers).
