Guys a buddy of mine picked up a Sony LCD about 15 or 18 mos ago. The set has since developed a complete line from top to bottom of what appear to be dead pixels. Has anyone else experienced this? What was the remedy? New panel? Repair?

Yes, needs a new panel.

I've seen issues like that before and that has been the remedy in most cases. What causes this?

edit: is it more cost effective to just buy a new tv?

I had a red line vertical on an xbr4. It was still under warranty. I took it in for repair got a phone call a week later and was told the panel was bad. Also told it is an expensive repair. I don't know the cause.

2 days ago, on a cheap 32 inch sony lcd. I notice a white line. This tv is about a month old.

I would love to know the cause because I got a 52xbr6 to replace the xbr4.

Guys this was purchased from CC and he's got the extended warranty. Does anyone have experience with CC and their extended warranty?

He's found some info online indicating CC wont do their own repairs but they will contract it out, this could mean the tv gets repaired as opposed to replaced?

Its a Sony KDL40V2500 if that matters.
