I'm looking for a receiver that will transcode all signals to HDMI at the most budget friendly price. I thought I had this with my 402B but it kicked the bucket after a few months of use. I have been using a HK, but only has passthrough and to get full use of my whole set-up, I need somthing that will transcode.

I do not need a great piece of audio equipment, nor do I need all the bells and whistles, just a good priced solid machine.

Maybe now they make an extra piece of equipment that could do this for me so I could keep my HK. That's probably just wishful thinking.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A fair amount of receivers can transcode various analog signals to HDMI. Supposedly some don't do a great job.

Define low dollar?

I think Onkyo, Harmon Kardon and Pioneer are some of the best buys out there.

I looked at 6ave for you, and it looks like Onkyo TX-SR607 might work for you. I don't know a lot about it, so you would need to look at it a bit closer.

Yamaha RX-V665 should be able to upconvert analog. It has a lack of flexibility on inputs and seems to be less powerful than the 663. The RX-V663 is also an option if you can find it.

The Pioneer VSX-919 looks like a possibility. I know little about it, so once again, you would need to confirm that it does what you want.

There's others of course, and if you do a forum search on budget receiver, some might pop up.
