Buffering 360 video to sync up w/ audio?

1231 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  jcpom
I really like HD DVD on the 360 Add-On, esp PQ, but the audio lag is bugging the h*ll out of me!! Is there any device available to delay (by a variable amount) the video coming from XBOX so that it can be synced up w/ the audio?

Also, is it possible that some of my audio delay is due to the length of my audio cable, which is about 25 ft?

Cable length won't cause a delay so you are ok there.

There aren't any devices out there that I know of that delay video other than some of the televisions form a few years back that had "slow" scalers/processing......and obviously you aren't going to seek out one of those.

Hopefully they will sort this out soon....
has anyone else besides me actually called 1-800-4-MY XBOX to tell them to fix the issue?

I have been contacted by MS people, and at their request had sent a few emails to several of their engineers.
Same deal with the first generation Toshiba players.

Could it be the way HD DVDs are authored?

Well, I haven't heard reports of these issues from the 2nd generation players.

It may take a while though to see the reports if they're there, but milder.
with denon 4306 avr you can adjust audio sync
the fun part of it all is that the sync issues on mine or only with hd dvd. standard dvd's have no sync issue at all in either the 360 or the add-on.
It's because of the audio conversion, which standard DVDs don't have to do. Actually, if you have an HD-DVD with an optional standard DD or DTS track, the synch shoudl be fine.

Can the denon adjust for LATE as well as EARLY audio v video?
No sync issues with my 360 add on.
No receiver will delay the video or push forward the audio to my knowledge. People saying that their receiver does this are mistaken.

Receivers delay audio....and that is the opposite of what you need like you already mentioned.

People saying that they don't have sync issues may have a display that delays the video a bit, or they may not be sensitive to this problem. The problem seems to be well known and real.

What I thought.

So can we assume the MS fix will allow user-adjustable timing of both audio and video to allow synching per individual HT equipment?
