Hi guys im new to this forum and I dont know which section to post this so please forgive me if its in the wrong section. I would like to seek your expert advice in setting up an audio system for my upcoming theater room. Room is around 1500 cubic feet (closed room) converted 26.75m² floor area and about 9'-10' high (Im not sure if I did it right?). Im aiming for a 5.1 setup for now so I could concentrate on quality ones than quantity for my budget... and will just buy additional speakers in the future if I want 7.1 or so(not sure if its a good plan?). Just bought a samsung UN60D7000 led tv, a ps3 for games/blu-rays and boxee for everything else. Im more on movies than music and do gaming from time to time. My budget is around $1500 for the receiver, speakers and subs. Im fairly new to this and I've been researching ALOT lately and here is what Im eyeing for.

Receiver: ONKYO TX-NR809 - $798.00

Center: Polk Audio CS2 Series II - $109

Front L/R: 2 x Polk Audio Monitor60 Series II - $239.98 for both

Surrounds L/R: Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II(Pair) - $119.99

Subs: Polk Audio PSW Series PSW505 12" - $229.99

Thats a total of $1,615.61 inc tax and shipping.

Any advice will be much appreciated thanks!

Onkyo 809 for $680 http://www.accessories4less.com/make...eceiver/1.html

Polk CS2 II Center $110 Polk Monitor 70 II Front L&R $360 for both and Monitor 30 II surrounds $90/ pair.

That's $1,240 now look at spending $500-$600 on a good sub. Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus, HSU VTF-2 MK3, Epic Legend and so on.

Thanks for the advices will be looking for a better subs for sure. Was wondering though if theres anything out there that performs the same if not almost the same as the speakers but are a little cheaper in terms of price. Considering for the onkyo 709 than the 809 too so I can have a better quality subs. What do you guys think?

Sounds like a good plan, although with those newegg sales prices you'll be hard pressed to find speakers that good for that cheap.

You should be able to get a good 5.0 system for Infinity Primus or Energy for around $500 at this moment. Check Crutchfield and Amazon for Infinity. Look for P162 (front), PC350 (center), and either P152/P153 or P142/P143 for the rears.

Vanns had the Energy CB-20 ($200), CC-10 ($150), and CB-10 ($200) at a really good price with promotion code "energy" although the website doesn't currently seem to be taking it. Call them. 6ave has the CB-5s for under $100 shipped (good for surrounds).
