Hi Everyone!

Recently I asked your opinions about going 5.1 vs 7.1 in a small room, most of the answers were to go 7.1, so I started designing the room. I already have the walls since they're made of concrete.

The equipment I have:

Onkyo TX-SR707

Bose Acoustimass 10

Yamaha YST-SW216

I'll be using Bose acoustimass is for 5.1 at the begining, and later I'll buy new speakers for L-C-R and SL-SR, so the Bose speakers will become the HL-HR and RSL-RSR.

Here you can see what I have in mind, tell me what you think

Sorry to return this thread back to life after almost a year, but I'm finally close to finish the room... here's what I've come up with:

The Equipment:

Fronts: B&W 685

Center: B&W HTM61

Surrounds: B&W 686

Sub: Yamaha YST-SW216

Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR707 but I'm waiting for a Marantz SR5005

Bluray: Samsung BD-C6900

Gaming: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

Now, those bose acoustimass are meant for audio to the rest of the house, away from my room

I must hurry to finish the room since a baby is arriving soon, very soon.

Nicely done, looks like a very cozy little room! Good decision to move the Bose out of there entirely...
So are you just sticking with 5.1 audio then? I think that is just fine, 7 speakers (or more with highs and wides) would be overkill IMHO.

Yes, actually that's the reason I'll leave it at 5.1, the other speakers would be too much, right now the room is "flooded" with sound, in a very good sense

What are the room dimensions?

The room is very small, H: 7'4" L: 12'7" W: 9'2"

Very well put together.

I was wondering where you got your signs from? Or if you made them do you have a diy process of how you did them?

Thanks

Hi Matt,

I made the signs myself, it's actually quite simple:

I Cut plexiglass with measures 9" x 12"

Googled the logos in Illustrator, mirrored and re-sized them to fit the plexiglass

Got a company to cut the vinyl, in a silver metallic tone

Stamped the resulting decals to one side of the plexiglass

Spray-painted the same side where I stamped the decals with black paint

and mounted them using something like this after drilling small holes through the plexiglass

It was some time ago, but I think the total cost for each sign was something like $10 to $15

Super job!

One thing missing, but you still have several months to take care of it.

The baby gates designed for fireplaces could stretch from one wall to the other; oversizing is not a problem, you can leave in some angles. Lots of baby gate options, using extensions.
