Hello, I've been reading on how to build a subwoofer, on a budget however. How would a $150 store-bought subwoofer such as the velodyne vx-10 compare to a DIY subwoofer?

Also, what kind of driver / amp is for under $100 is a good combo?

Thanks,

acencha

under $200 is HARD to beat with DIY...wood, tools, time all add a little bit and I dont even know an amp that is under $100. I do know probably the only driver choice is the 13Kv.2 D4 drivers at Elemental Designs and they have been on sale for ever so I dont know if they are sold out...

so thats $50

Maybe the LT/200 for $105....Thats already $155 and you need wood, finish products and tools...another $50 to $75.

Just dont think you can keep DIY under $200 but I dont think any sub under $200 is worth it, either except when they said the new scamp10s would be that cheap. Of course they are not even at the pre-order stage yet and they are now over $200 but even at $250, I doubt we can do something in DIY that will be better then that complete package.

So what have I rambled on about???

Save your money, buy the Scamp10 in the fall.
