My bulb went out at about 325 hrs. I called Sony Service and they advised I send it in to have the unit checked for any problems. The bulb was gone and they replaced it and some resistors. I talked the service manager down to $350.00 instead of $500.00 for the replacement and they did not charge for the labor or other parts.

I don't know exactly what they did but when I got it back it blew me out of my chair. This thing is pumping out some light now! I immediately turned down the contrast back to the original setting of 80. Stunning picture, in fact Tuesday nights CBS HD JAG telecast had a storm scene with a lot of lightening and you had to turn away from the screen. It dang near blinded me.

I don't know if the old bulb was that bad from the start or

they did something funky with the power circuit but I like it, a lot.

If you blow a bulb and the unit is still in warranty I belive I would send it in and let Sony do their thang to it. It'll cost you nothing but the price of the bulb.
