After PM ing with @LTD02 for a long time, I finally pulled the trigger on building 2 ported HST18s. I am building 11 Cubic feet ported cabs tuned to 17hz. The subs will be powered by A14K from Bossobass.
The room is a dedicated theater room and the dimensions are 27x14.5x9'. I will use Duratex to finish the boxes as they will be placed behind an AT screen in the room. The subs will complement the Fusion 15 s that I recently built.

Here is the design. The only difference is, the width will be 25.5" instead of 24".

Here are the progress pictures from yesterday. I am using Titebond glue and nail gun with brad nailers to speed up the process. I have sealed the inside edges with acoustical caulk and will use 2 thick coats of Duratex outside.

ports will be 3" high

Thank you, the garage is much more organized normally but since I am also building my theater room, it has been pretty messy for the last 2 months.

What kind of wood are you using? Looks nice!

It is 3/4" birch plywood from HD. I use it instead of MDF as I find it less messy and it is easier to put screws in without messing it up.

Almost done with the bracing. I plan to put 4 strips from the back wall to the front wall around where the sub gets mounted. Can you please let me know if the bracing will be sufficient?

From the looks of this, your vertical strips are gonna need to be cut down a 3/4 (three quarter inch) What ever is the thickness of your wood, in order for your top board piece to go on properly. You may want to take a look at that. Dual HST's are gonna KILL.. :p I have em in Mini Martys.. I see you are getting the Bosso amplifier.. SWEET.. !!

Unless his top piece is just going to sit on top of everything and not sit flush with pieces. But yep these are gunna rock.

EDIT: Nevermind I see his drawing you are right it is supposed to be flush.

@phonzo07 you rock! Yes, looks like I have to cut 4 pcs by 3/4". By the way I have added some more bracing...
No Problem sirr, I'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed with the outcome. Just make sure the bracing is good, you do not want any rattling, or noise from the box. It can get very irritating. I know from experience. The amount of air these push is insane. I'm very curious to hear or see what the Bossobass amps will do with those. I've read a lot about them. I have Inuke 6Ks and know these drivers can take more. Good luck with the build. This is a great community (AVS FORUM). I've learned ALOT.. and also spent ALOT.. :D

I finally had time last night to come back to this project and make progress. I cut the driver holes and glued them together. The plan is to finish assembly tonight, give it a couple of coat of Duratex tomorrow and fire it up on Sunday.

I am curious to know if anyone has used these handles in their build to make it easier to move these giant enclosures. is it ok to install them?

I finally finished it. I am going to describe A14k HST18 combo with one word "effortless". I set up the high pass filter as 17db. So far with the levels I normally listen to, I only saw 5 green lights in the front panel of the amp. This thing shakes the door of the theater room. :D

I only built one to see the performance and I can assure you that I will complete the 2nd cabinet asap. I am loving this thing...

Awesome! I'm glad you got one driver/system fired up. ...and that's with only one of your two HST-18 mkII monsters. Adding the second driver will double your surface area and double your power for a very big increase in output. :D
