Burn in warranty.. Important?

I know most company's don't cover burn in in the new plasma's...The only one i heard that does is Best buy so my question is that since Best buy prices are higher than Amazon , I was going to order my Plasma from Amazon but since Best buy extended warranty covers burn in would you get the plasma from them instead? or is it a non issue?

I would make sure I read and understood the fine print.

Read the Burn-IN or IR sticky on this issue!
Permanent burn-in is very rare with today's plasmas. And BB EWs are very expensive. I'd be surprised if any EW covers burn-in (as already stated, read the fine print).
BB offered me a extended warranty on my ST30 60 for 330 or should I get it through Panasonic? who generally offers the best plans? Thanks!
best burn-warranty is the one where you don't waste $$ and instead are careful not to leave static images on the screen for days at a time

Thats easy to say but there are always mistakes that happen. Matter of fact one happened to me and its the reason i had to buy a new tv.

Power went out in my apt as i was watching tv and getting ready to leave for an extended weekend. Usually if the power goes out if im watching satellite the box will come back on with the tv and it will just show whatever channel i had it on (no problem). Well this time i was watching netflix on my PS3 when the power went out (big problem) and i forgot to unplug the tv. The power was still out when i left my apt for a 4 day weekend trip and when it came back on later that day the tv turned on but the PS3 didnt. When i got back to my apt 4 days later i find my tv on with the static AV input display it shows when there is no signal. 4 days of that menu on my screen and as you can guess not only was that image burned in but my optical block was trashed. Everything had a yellow haze on it and the tv cannot display blues properly at all.

So i bought a new tv from Best Buy in which they price matched Amazon and i bought the warranty just in case something crazy happens again.

FYI, Costco offers a 3-year warranty through Square Trade warranty service for TV's costing over $1,000 for only $99. It starts when the manufacturers warranty ends, and therefore is equivalent to the BB warranty for four years. Square Trade seems to have a pretty good rep. At least, it appears to be as good as anyone else's.

Price match amazon? That's a bit of a surprise!
thanks, but will Costco provide a warranty for a TV purchased at BB? I have always found BB to treat you like a # on a spread sheet.

Yes. If you buy the TV at Costco, you get 2 years with Costco, and then 3 additional years with the Square Trade warranty for a total of 5. If you buy it elsewhere, you get the 3 additional years after the manufacturer's warranty ends (typically 1 year), for a total of 4 years. Details are available on the Costco website.

Thankyou Smitter

You're welcome. Someone else on this very site (I forget whom) turned me on it, which just shows what a great community this is.
