I purchased a 4:3 Sony HDTV set this June before I knew anything about HDTV because my cousin who advised me lives in the country in the mid-west and had zero access to OTA HDTV sources. He figured it will be a few years before I even get to use the HDTV capability. Serves me right for not researching it myself.

In NY, starting this fall, between OTA and Dish HD most of my TV viewing will be widescreen.

Which means that I am going to run into burn-in issues from watching too much 16:9 material on a 4:3 HDTV.

Any suggestions on how to deal with it?

Also if 100% of my viewing goes to 16:9 will I care if the unused part of the screen is a different shade?

Thanks
