I am searching for a new reciever to replace my denon avr3803.I am looking to add power and get at least 4 hdmi inputs with 1080p upscaling.i have been looking at two onkyo recievers (TX-SR876 and the tx nr906)but i keep finding negative write-ups on them.My price range is around a grand. Can anyone assist me in making my decision?

I would highly recommend a Pioneer VSX-94TXH. Now that they are one model away from Pios latest and greatest, they can be had for about a grand. Superb amplification, MCACC is head and shoulders above Audessey, and the Faroudja chip upscales very well.

I've only seen positive write ups of those two receivers.

Your opinion - in no way fact. Show him links to the different systems.

If he wants to read about Audyssey, he can go here...

Good thread about all three systems.

TX-SR876 is the sweet spot of the Onkyo lineup right now because you can get a feature loaded receiver with tons of power, top-notch upscaler/deinterlacer and great sound relatively inexpensively. Do you have all HD sources or do you want to upscale some SD sources to an HD TV?
