is their anyway to bypass the internal scaler? Has anyone tried using the 15 pin rgb input on the back. Is that for receiver box only, or could use use a dvd player with rgb out

Hi Daniel,

I have a 510 with a Digital Leeza connected to the 15-pin RGB input at 540p, and I believe this bypasses the internal scaler.

Yes, that is what I'm saying.

My impression is that the Elites does not do any scaling when it receives a 480p or 1080i/540p signal, it displays it natively. I'm no expert, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

One final question, if you use the RBG input and use 540p or 1080i, does it go into full mode. I have been told that if you use progressive signal, the set locks into a certain mode.

Yes it does lock into full mode. Only settings that are available are Contrast, Black Level, and Color Temp. Also, there's no aspect ratio control. I haven't done any adjustments in Service mode of the 510, but since I'm using a Digital Leeza, I do all my adjustments with the Leeza.
