I'm considering an X1. All sources (HTPC and Satellite) will be through the VGA input. I want to let the HTPC do the scaling for DVD's (powerstip+theatertek) but utilize the scaler on the X1 for SD DirectTV. I'd also like to bypass the scaler for HD from my DTC-100. Is this possible? If so, how would I accomplish this.

If you send 800x600 to the projector and leave it in 4:3 Aspect ratio, it will not be scaled.

It's great that someone as knowledgeable as you are here. I though only native mode is bypassing the scaler. Can you confirm?


One more question, I connected my laptop to the X1 using VGA and found the projected image in native mode is the same (biggest) like in 4:3 mode - unlike using S-video and composite signal that native is the smallest of the 3 (native, 4:3 & 16:9). Is it the design or any relation to my recent upgrade to 4.1. Now the image (when using laptop) in native mode is bigger than my 16:9 screen and no way to make it smaller. Will it be the same under 480P?

What if I want to send it a 16x9 resolution . . say 1024x720?

I guess 800x450 and put it in 16:9 mode? Don't know if that would work.
