C-band or digital cable vs dishtv / directv for sdtv on big screen

With 50'' and greater screens much of SDTV on dishtv hdtv receiver 811 is painful whereas hdtv rocks. Anyone have c-band hooked up to their big screen. Channels I watch most are comedy (John Stewart) and PBS (Jim Lehrer). They are out of focus in SDTV. Will c-band or digital cable give sharper images.


Conceivably, digital cable may have higher resolution / better picture than small dish on their sdtv channels (because they have more bandwidth and do not need to compress as much as satellite). I am sure that c-band would blow away digital cable but would it be sufficiently good to justify the upfront expense and anxiety about channels going away.
