I've found that my Samsung DLP up-converts from 480i to its native resolution better that having a cable box do part up-conversion. I'd set it to 480i. That also gives you the ability to turn on CC on your television, if you wish.

what should my comcast cable box be set to? 480i or 480p? I am using a samsung lcd tv.
