It depends on how the HD is being transmitted. If the cable company is transmitting the signal as an ota signal (which is rare) such as CBS is temporarly being done in the Chicago area on AT&T, then yes. If the HD signal is in the QAM format (most likely), then you will need to get their digital set top box.

My DCT-100 receives MSG-HD, FSNY-HD, and HBO-HD from Long Island Cablevision. They are on the cable as a standard 8VSB signal (same as OTA broadcasters use). Cablevision is one of the very few cable companies that are using this method. Chances are you company is not using a signal compatible with the DCT-100 and you will have to use their box.

That sounds promissing, as I don't want to buy/rent a HD-Cable Box. Hopefully AT&T will send their premium HD channels (Show, HBO) as standard 8VSB signals, as I have the Samsung STB and it only decodes OTA signals. Which, by the way, works perfectly when I attach my cable line and watch CBS. It is such a good fealing knowing that I am watching HD and don't have to bother with a antenna, with CBS at least.
