Sombody help me out here.
I currently have AT&T broadband cable service. I have a pretty basic package and its cheep. ($15) One by one the DTV High Def local channels are being added to the serivice. The cable feed uses 8-VSB and sends the HD channel over a standard cable channel There is no "special" cable box involved, or no "special" converter box. Simply connect the coax cable feed to the STB or digital receiver BEFORE any cable box. Search for channels and there they are. It works just fine on a standard cable channel just like it was being broadcast over a standard OTA channel.
(It does not work on so called digital cable installations)
Example: CBS HDTV full 1080 is received on cable channel 88. It appears as a mapped channel 88-1.
( I have no cable box at all because the TV tunes cable channels as well)
What is all this talk about special converters and cable complications?
