Cable input for the Hitachi 42HDF52

1448 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  capnamazing
My buddy has a Hitachi 42HDF52 and is trying to hook up his Samsung HD-DVD player to it (DVD-HD755). The Samsung DVD player has an HDMI output, but the TV has a DMI input.

Since HDMI is for both audio and video and DVI is strictly for Video, what does he need to do to get a digital videa and audio signal from his DVD player to his TV?

Thank you.

You need a DVI to HDMI cable and a RCA red/white to stereo minijack cable. The DVI goes into the DVI connector and the stereo minijack goes into the connector labelled "Analog RGB/DVI audio in". This according to the "Input/Output" documentation on their website. There might be a menu choice you have to set in order to get the audio selected between the RGB and DVI port.
Thank you. That was what I needed.
