Help anyone...

I am finally ready to purchase my X1. The location of my Wall unit for the AV components necessitates an S-Video and/or Component video cables of about 20 feet in length. Is this going to be a problem?

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the reassurance. I was assured some time ago that it wouldn't be an issue but started to wonder if this guy really knew his stuff or not.

You people are a valuable resource out there.

I've read in several places that you shouldn't use S-video cable runs of more than 35', although I believe that some people on this forum have gone up to 50' without any problem. YMMV. Your 20' run should be no problem whatsoever as long as you use halfway decent cables.

As someone stated earlier in the thread, you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for decent cables. I'm using a 12' S-video cable to 4-way switchbox, then going to a 15' S-video cable to the X1, and it looks great. The total cost for the 2 cables and switchbox was less than $40.

I have a 75' VGA cable and a 75' RCA cable providing input to my X1 - I don't notice any problems with them at all. Had shorter runs before finalizing my installation and don't see any difference.

When I first got my X1, I used a cheap 20' Svideo cable. I was considering returning the unit because of the quality. Luckily, I accidently tried another cable and it was much better. I now run a 25' component cable from bluejeans cable. I paid something like $75 (shipped) for it. Looks fine to me now.
