Cable Run for Projector

475 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jimforehand
Any suggestions for hiding a component from the projector to the receiver. My room is over the garage and there is no attic area to feed the cable through. I would have to tear out the drywall and replace.

Any ideas for attacing the cable on the ceiling would be appreciated.

How about under the room (along the garage ceiling) and back up?

Another alternative is out, then along an exterior wall, and then back in. I did that for my PJ; the room interior looks flawless, and the effect on the outside is very slight, especially after painting. And that's with Component, HDMI and S-video.
I am doing a ceiling mount, so going through the floor wouldn't help.

Thanks.
I didn't mention that the celiing is gabled, so coming from the outside wouldn't work either.
Are you going to paint the ceiling?

You can use some stuff called PANDUIT, it is plastic with sticky tape on one side and a slit up the side, put your cable inside of it and then attatch it to the ceiling and paint it to match.

I am in the same boat, no access to the attic and this is how I will be running mine.

Hope this helps.
Do you mean the ceiling is "vaulted" (angled to a peak)? If so is there an insulation space between the ceiling joists (there is not much post and beam construction going on these days)? There might be a way you can fish it up between the sheet rock and insulation between the joists.

Hard to tell what your situation is without seeing it.

BTW, how were you planning on getting AC up there?

Yes it is angled with about 2 feet of flat space in the middle.

To fish something through I would have to drill through at least one 2X4 maybe more.

It is currently a media room already and has AC.

Thanks for the idea. This might work.

I used to drive through Segiun fairly often when I lived in Corpus Christi and took trips to San Antonio and Austin.
